Conclusion

It is at this juncture that we look at the big picture through the lens of Black community members, and what we see within the justice system in Canada looks unfavourable.

The information collected through these consultations come from credible sources, Black community.

Black people in New Brunswick feel that the system “is with bias and prejudice amidst a lack of accountability”. Subsequently, if equal representation at all levels of government and government funded departments, agencies, boards, etc., were put into place, then, and only then can Canada be truly serious about a Black Justice Strategy.

This initiative is a demonstration of the Government of Canada’s commitment to Canada’s Black Justice Strategy. It is a good step toward creating a system that is free of discrimination and racism. However, there is much work to be done.
