Remedy 4: Prosecution

The time and costs required to pursue this remedy vary depending on whether the person in question appeals the provincial court decision. If the person does not appeal, the costs are estimated at about $4.0M. If the person appeals all the way to the Supreme Court, the costs are estimated at $4.2M. The prosecution costs for this remedy would be incurred over about two and a half years. Travel expenses for DOJ ($1.3M) and RCMP ($186,000) account for a significant portion of the overall costs.
