Description

This figure is a broken-line graph showing the actual (1977-1998) and projected (1999-2003) number of adults charged with drug offences in Quebec. The number of adults charged was at its lowest for the period studied in 1978, with 4,085 cases. There is an upward trend for the remainder of the 1979-1996 period despite certain fluctuations, and there are 8,824 cases in 1996. It decreases by nearly 1,300 cases in 1997 before increasing again in 1998 (8,122 cases). The projection for 1999-2003 shows a consistent upward trend, to 9,118 cases for 2003.
