Description

Figure 2 is a broken-line graph showing the number of adults charged with drug offences, by type of offence, in Alberta from 1977 to 1998. The X axis shows the year; the Y axis shows the number of adults charged, in increments of 2,000, from 0 to 12,000. There are two broken lines: one (dark blue) showing the number of adults charged with drug possession; and one (pink) showing the number of adults charged with drug trafficking, importing and growing.

The number of charges involving drug possession decreases over the years, with a few fluctuations in the first years, ranging from 1,846 to 9,669.

The number of adults charged with drug trafficking, importation and growing remains fairly stable, ranging from 851 to 1,742.
